For the Love of Bridesmaids

add to kirtsy

How are the wedding plans coming, you ask? (very slowly. like at a glacial pace, thanks for asking)

Here's what I know for sure, so far.

We know the date and the place, and we know who's officiating. We also know who's in our wedding party, for the most part. I have also found and purchased the wedding gown of my dreams.

And that's about it.

I have stared at pictures of flowers and bridesmaid dresses for hours. I can't pick a color to save my life though. I'm pretty sure I want jewel tones, but not really. I think I want peonies, but I'm not sure. Forget about cakes, invitations, music, or anything else.

It's like I've completely forgotten how to make decisions, or something.

Fortunately, my bridesmaids are keeping me in the game. I actually sent them a mildly panicked email last week telling them that if they didn't prod me along, I was pretty sure I would still be staring a pictures of flowers the night before the wedding. They are excellent prodders, thank God!

The good news is I've been spending a lot of time enjoying this fabulous blog, which I'm quite certain holds the entirety of all my wedding inspiration. (many thanks to Sizzle for turning me on to it)

Wheels are spinning. Balls are rolling.

I vow to have the most beautiful wedding I can possibly imagine. In return for the many laborious hours which await my faithful prodders, I vow to not make them wear anything they will hate. It's the least I can do.

PJ's Wedding
Just one of the many weddings I've been in, and a super-shiny homage to 1993.

WHOA! That is, um, wow!

As long as you pick exactly the opposite of what's in the picture, your wedding will be perfect!

I was in a wedding in 1992. I was 15, it was my brother's wedding. I wore a strapless hunter green shiny dress that came to my knee and then was longer in the back, you remember the kind. I was not well enough endowed to fill it out and had to be very careful how I raised my arms. Well, I forgot about this when it came time to catch the bouquet and it came down to my waist exposing my (as my brothers called them) booblets.
Moral of the story? Don't have ugly bridesmaid dresses and expect them to stay up on a 15 year old with no boobs.
You're welcome ;)

OMG! That's HILARIOUS! What are the white shawl like things you're all wearing? And why does she have a big white fro thing around her head? hehehehe.

I had a very simple Hawaiian themed wedding outside at my inlaws house. It was simple but nice and we didn't spend a ton of money. I still love it.

My dear, dear Piper... What is wrong with the wedding you showed? it's timeless... I am sure the bride takes complete pride in her taste. I am also quite sure that those bridesmaids had multiple opportunities to wear those dresses again and again. (for example: christenings, baptisms, family photo sessions, romantic nights on the town, the grocery store, the dry cleaners, the orthodontist, their very own engagement party, ultra sound appointments and child birthing classes...) and that is just to name a few...

really my friend, you must be putting too much pressure on yourself. lace and taffeta (together) while paired with a butt load of aqua net is exactly the direction one should take their wedding... :)

JUST KIDDING.

Yikes. Maybe all of that means you should just have a super tiny affair & use the rest to go on vacation???

I'm so far behind that I didn't have a clue you were engaged. Congrats!

So basically you're saying you won't make your bridesmaids wear something like that... ;)
I think I had a dress (for a wedding) that was a very similar color to yours... however, it was 1999 and there was no white anything attached. Unfortunately said dresses were homemade and mine was the best fitting of the bunch. The other two girls were giving a peep show the whole wedding! Yikes!
We were even required to get shoes dyed to match... yeah, like I had a chance to wear those again!

My advice? Pick a color and have your bridesmaids get whatever dress they want in that color. It's what we did and it worked really well. That way each girl was comfortable, theoretically had something she might wear again, and no one really cared that they all didn't match perfectly!

OH SWEET JAYBUS.

I thought that pic was gonna be some pic you found on the interwebs. But no. You're actually IN the picture. Just wow.

Oh, those dresses! The brides is just as bad. Oh, and the veil! Too much. You must find a veil/headpiece monument thing for yourself or borrow that one.

Ummmm . . . . lovely? Oh well, I'm sure the bride thought so.

I'm sure it will all come together. I let my bridesmaids get together and pick out three dresses. I told them my color preference and sent them off. They did a good job. I had the final say.

My headpiece is still available. You can have it if you want . . . LOL

Hoooooly crap that wedding headdress thingy is crazy!

For a girl who says she doesn't want to get married I sure do read a lot of wedding blogs. AHEM.

I know you're going to have a perfect and lovely wedding!
